A lot has been happening over the past month as we get closer to hiring a new CALM coach and prepare for our swimming meet on March 25 – here’s a quick update.
New CALM coaching staff
Approximately 15 candidates applied for the head coaching position, many with substantial experience (including at the Masters’ level). The Board has conducted an initial screening of the candidates and, along with Spencer Hawkins (our liaison with Cal), we have identified a short list of about 5 candidates with the top qualifications. We will be scheduling interviews and on-deck “trial runs” over the next few weeks and have targeted making a final decision by March 25 (the date of our spring meet). We’ll be looking for feedback from the team after the on-deck trial runs.
Annual CALM meet
The annual CALM meet has been set for Sunday, March 25, and we are looking for team members to volunteer for setup/check-in/clean-up/safety/running (we already have quite a few timers). Kendall Young and Jake Kislevitz are coordinating volunteers this year; please use the following link to sign up:

We also encourage you to sign up to swim at the meet:

Please let Kendall or me know if you are interested in swimming in relays.
Sunday morning long-course returning!
We are planning to start back with long-course workouts at Spieker by the middle of March. Please stay tuned!
Please contact me directly (swashburn@ramboll.com) if you have any questions or concerns.
